
Jersey Boys History
The
Broadway musical The Jersey
Boys opened on November 6, 2005 at the August
Wilson Theatre. Based on the story of Frankie
Valli and the Four Seasons,
the musical utilizes numerous hit songs by the group during their rise
to fame. The musical’s success is translated by it’s over $400,000
at the box office just a day after it opened. The first premier of the
musical was at La Jolla Playhouse on October 5, 2004.
The show then became a tour in December of 2006, beginning at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. It has since been to Chicago’s LaSalle Bank Theatre and numerous other theatres across the country.

Future plans for the show include making its West End debut at the Prince
Edward Theatre in London in 2008. The cast for the London shows are as

The first act is jam-packed with hit songs from the group, including 20 of the songs that brought them to the top. “Earth Angel”, “Sherry”, and “Big Girls Don’t Cry” are just a few of the songs from the first act. The second act is a bit on the lighter side with only twelve songs, like “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Stay”.
The show has won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical in 2006, A Theatre World Award, Outstanding Actor in a Musical and Outstanding Sound Design Drama Desk Awards.
